Штат Техас, 50-і роки XIX століття. Глава родини Захарія загинув багато років тому від рук індіанців, захищаючи свій будинок і родину. Мати одна виховала трьох синів і дівчинку Рейчел, чиї батьки були вбиті індіанцями в ті лихі дні. Зненацька індіанці з'ясовують, що в дівчині тече кров плем'я Кайова й приходять забрати свою одноплемінницю. Злякавшись кровопролиття, ніхто не приходить на допомогу обложеній родині. Братам з матір'ю й сестрою доводиться одним відбивати напад безжалісного загону індіанців...
