Ханда Сейшю — молодий токійський каліграф, якого батько вислав на острів далеко від столиці, щоб набратися досвіду і трохи охолонути. Напередодні Сейшю вдарив старенького директора галереї, розлютившись на того за його критику каліграфії. Ось так, опинившись у незвичних для нього обставинах, майстер каліграфії мусить звикнути до нової домівки далеко від цивілізації, де навколо лише купка енергійних дітлахів і літніх сусідів.Сюжет

Скільки незвіданих таємниць ховається у глибинах Всесвіту. Тисячоліттями люди шукали шляхи до інших світів, до інших планет і їхніх цивілізацій. У 1972 році Космічний екіпаж «Аполона-17» здійснює висадку на поверхні місяця. Астронавти виявили незвичайне місце – кратер, який випромінював світло. Виявилось, що це своєрідний портал на іншу планету – Марс.Це відкриття дало змогу людям перебратися на Червону планету і колонізувати її, але воно ж і створило нові проблеми: згодом колоністи створили імперію і заявили про свої права на технології марсіан, що призвело до збройних сутичок між Землею і Марсом.
Після, здавалось, нескінченних боїв, знищення Місяця і довгих років холодної війни між двома планетами марсіанська принцеса вирішила посприяти налагодженню відносин із Землею і відправилася в якості посла доброї волі для проведення переговорів. Тільки от вона й уявити собі не могла, що імперія використає нещасний випадок, що стався під час її візиту, як привід для розв'язання нової війни. Скільки ще солдат впаде в нових боях, і чи є спосіб звести кровопролиття до мінімуму, поки не відомо.
