8.5 Сюжет
Поліція Бостона засилає свого аґента під прикриттям у найбільше ірландське мафіозне угрупування, що орудує у штаті. Тим часом ірландці впроваджують найперспективнішого бійця у лави поліції. Завдання обох бути очима та вухами своїх босів у стані ворога. Але довго так тривати не може: обидві сторони розуміють, що в їхніх рядах зрадник. Викриття призведе до кривавої бійні, та й самим аґентам тепер не так просто підставити під удар своїх нових "колег".

Але одного дня хлопець знаходить дивний чорний зошит і знайомиться з її власником – синігамі Рюком. Можливості «Зошита смерті» дозволяють Лайту стати Кірою – загадковим і всезнаючим вбивцею, караючим злочинців. Більш того – вивчивши правила використання зошита, хлопець успішно уникає пасток, розставлених спецслужбами. Ніхто не може його зловити. В таємничого «L» ніколи не було поразок: зберігаючи інкогніто, він успішно розплутував найважчі справи і допомагав поліції. Поява Кіри стала викликом для його екстраординарних здібностей. Отже, два вельми розумних і обдарованих юнака стикаються в смертельному протистоянні, і тепер кожна дрібниця, кожна випадковість може схилити ваги на ту або іншу сторону. На стороні Лайта – могутній «Зошит Смерті». В «L» є підтримка поліції і досвід. І ніхто не збирається програвати або задаватися...
