Г'юї Вокер, бунтар-хіпі зі стажем, переслідується ФБР за дріб'язковий злочин 20-річної давності. Його конвоїр - агент ФБР Джон Батнер, який отримав завдання перевезти до в'язниці довговолосого ветерана. Але по дорозі арештанту Батнера вдається втекти.
