Конструктивістський фільм-репортаж про рух «двадцятипятитисячників» – робітників направлених Партією в 1929 році на підйом села. Фільм знімався в одному найбільших радгоспів свого часу «Гігант», на Харківському тракторному заводі, Чорноморському флоті в Севастополі.Злидням тогочасних сіл протиставлено геометричний ритм механізованих заводів. Проблемою села, в дусі пропаганди того часу, показано куркулів, а прогресивним кроком – формування колгоспів. Колективізація у фільмі йде пліч-о-пліч з індустріалізацією, а наступним етапом "небувалого походу" зображена мілітаризація.Парадоксальний фільм, який показує село того часу, так як звикли показувати місто, і попри свою тотально агітаційну форму, компілює індустріальне захоплення Вертова з пантеїстичною м’якістю Довженка.
