Людям відомо безліч легенд самого різного походження і віку. Якісь з них стали плодом урбанізації, які втілили в собі давні забобони, а які з'явилися ще в древніх текстах відомих філософів і вчених. До останньої категорії належить крім інших легенда про Атлантиду, що міститься в античній традиції і явно мала під собою якісь підстави, про які сучасні вчені можуть тільки здогадуватися. Дослідженню теорії походження міфу про Атлантиду і присвячений даний фільм, виконаний одночасно як документальне та художнє кіно. Поява легенди зв'язується з загибеллю реального острова Тіра, пішов під воду в результаті виверження вулкана. В центрі сюжету опиняються молода людина, учень стрибків через биків, і його дружина, які прибули на Тіру з Криту. Коли починається виверження вулкана, їм і іншим мешканцям острова доводиться в терміновому порядку рятуватися від катастрофи, яка ось-ось погубить їх будинок.

Людям відомо безліч легенд самого різного походження і віку. Якісь з них стали плодом урбанізації, які втілили в собі давні забобони, а які з'явилися ще в древніх текстах відомих філософів і вчених. До останньої категорії належить крім інших легенда про Атлантиду, що міститься в античній традиції і явно мала під собою якісь підстави, про які сучасні вчені можуть тільки здогадуватися. Дослідженню теорії походження міфу про Атлантиду і присвячений даний фільм, виконаний одночасно як документальне та художнє кіно. Поява легенди зв'язується з загибеллю реального острова Тіра, пішов під воду в результаті виверження вулкана. В центрі сюжету опиняються молода людина, учень стрибків через биків, і його дружина, які прибули на Тіру з Криту. Коли починається виверження вулкана, їм і іншим мешканцям острова доводиться в терміновому порядку рятуватися від катастрофи, яка ось-ось погубить їх будинок.
