Фільм присвячено життю папи Івана Павла II. Дія стрічки розпочинається у Страсну П'ятницю 1926 року в Кальварії-Зебжідовській, коли шестирічний Кароль Войтила разом з батьком бере участь у містеріях, які уособлюють Господню Муку. Далі йде розповідь про найважливіші етапи життя Польщі та життя майбутнього папи, з якими ми знайомимося, спостерігаючи за реальними, і за вигаданими персонажами. У фільмі також використані документальні кадри.
Сюжет
Фільм присвячено життю папи Івана Павла II. The film is set in a terrorizing world of the future, where technology commands the movements of individuals, supervised by the doctors, carrying out a program to improve the human race. Thus, instead of doctors creating a monster, the monsters are already there as the species of the future - but one of them is suspected by the doctors of being a human being. That is Golem in reverse.

П'ятнадцятирічна Марися живе в бідній сім'ї, яка недавно переїхала у велике місто з села. Дівчинці дуже важко знайти друзів у своєму новому оточенні. Марися звертає увагу на двох дівчаток з свого класу: самовпевнену і живу Касю та красиву й багату Єву. Марисі належить багато що пережити під впливом Касі і Єви. Дівчина відкриє для себе мистецтво, віддалиться від власної сім'ї з її консервативними поглядами і пізнає для себе новий світ матеріальних цінностей. Нове життя і оточення абсолютно міняють Марисю і незабаром вона перетворюється з сором'язливої дівчиська в елегантну і красиву дівчину. Тепер їй здається, що перед нею відкрилися нові горизонти і Марися починає дивитися на інших людей зверху вниз.
