Сюжет
На стилізованій сцені театру Но розгортається трагічна історія лейтенанта Сіндзі Такеями та його дружини Рейко. Після невдалого військового перевороту 1936 року офіцер отримує наказ стратити своїх товаришів, але не може зрадити ні честь, ні дружбу. Перед обличчям неминучого він проводить останню ніч із дружиною в атмосфері любові, відчаю та приреченості. Разом вони обирають шлях спільної смерті: він здійснює сеппуку, а вона слідує за ним. He does not appear to be employed by the track, but seems to provide his services voluntarily. His protection from "fanatics" gives the film its title.
