Його друзі з вулиці всі як один знайшли роботу чи відкрили власну справу і тепер соромляться бути з ним в одній компанії. Він самотній і, незважаючи на молодий вік, розчарований у житті. Неможливість пристосуватися до соціально-економічних трансформацій китайського суспільства середини 90-их, свідком яких є Сяо Ву, не залишає для нього жодного шансу змінити щось на краще.
