The director Slatan Dudow shows through images: a) the workers leaving the factory; b) the raise of the rents; c) the "unpleasant" guest, meaning the justice officer that brings the eviction notice; d) the fight of classes of the houses of capitalists and working classes; e) the parks of the working class; f) the houses of the working class, origin of the tuberculosis and the victims; g) the playground of the working class; h) the swimming pool for the working class, ironically called the "Baltic Sea" of the working class; i) the effects of humidity of basement where a family lives, with one member deaf; j) one working class family having dinner while the capitalist baths his dog; k) the eviction notice received from an unemployed family and their eviction.

The hazards and consequences of this trade are explored, including the pan-African violence propagated by constant flow of weapons into the continent. If it is a "survival of the fittest" world, as Darwin concluded, then the capitalist interests that fund the gun runners are climbing the evolutionary ladder on the backs of the Africans in this stark Darwinian example. Much like the foreseeable extinction of the Lake Victoria perch, and death of Lake Victoria itself, the Africans are in grave jeopardy, even as they survive in the only ways they know how.

Ніколя Ваньє вперше звернувся до мистецтва кінематографа, однак його ім'я досить добре відомо - за останні півтора десятка років він опублікував кілька книг і фотоальбомів. Під час його знаменитої "Білої Одіссеї" - подорожі довжиною в 8600 кілометрів з узбережжя Аляски до канадського Квебека - Ваньє зустрів реально існуючого Нормана Вінтера, який дійсно вже давно ховається від руйнівної цивілізації в незайманих лісах Півночі. Ваньє вирішив зняти фільм про останнього мисливця, але тут, на погляд критиків, дещо помилився з формою - замість об'єктивної документальної стрічки Ваньє раптом зняв фільм ігровий. Тобто всі герої "Мисливця" грають самих себе, але при цьому за сценарієм режисера. І тому, при всій своїй неймовірній красі, фільм вийшов просвітницьким і повчальним - в дусі освітніх передач для школярів, а вкладені в уста головного героя слова звучать явно неприродно. Спроба, сама по собі, проте, цікава, а що до зайвого пафосу... краще просто дивитися і жалкувати про неможливість втраченої гармонії.
