У травні 2014 року ФСБ заарештувало Сенцова, звинуватило його у плануванні терактів і вивезло до Москви. Після року ув’язнення його було засуджено до 20 років колонії – попри те, що свідоцтва з боку звинувачення були надані під тиском, а докази у справі – відсутні. Олег Сенцов своєї провини не визнає.
