Ціль місії – дослідження комети як небесного тіла, яке сформувалось до появи планет. Вчені сподіваються отримати дані про те, який вигляд мала наша Сонячна система до появи крупних небесних тіл та, можливо, про те, який вплив мали комети на виникнення життя на Землі.
