Старий живе згадками та роздумами: про те, як його близькі полишили рідний дім, про смерть сина-військовика, про те, як сучасний безжалісний світ вторгається в сільське життя, позбавляючи людей первісної чистоти своєї ідентичності. Левко викликає синів до села з міста, але відчуває їхню душевну віддаленість і не знає, як їх наблизити.
