At age two, Gerald McLoy should be at the age where he says his first words. But when the first "words" that come out of his mouth sound more like a broken spring - "boing boing" - his nervous father is worried that Gerald will never speak properly and keep on making these unusual sounds. After his father calls in medical help, Gerald continues to keep making these and other unusual sounds as the doctor doesn't know what to do. And later, when Gerald's father sends him to school hoping that being around other children speaking and having teachers who can teach him will make him speak properly, Gerald still can only make these sounds. Is there any hope for Gerald or his exasperated parents?

Goofy shows us how to swim, first using a piano stool to demonstrate the strokes, right into the middle of traffic and back again. Next, Goofy tries to change in a tiny beachhouse and ends up underwater without realizing it. He eats his picnic lunch and finds himself literally tied into knots with cramps. Next, Goofy takes on diving, as first demonstrated by an outline model; of course, for him, it doesn't go nearly as well. Finally, Goofy tries riding the surf in an inner tube, but first it's punctured by an ill-placed anchor, then it turns into a slingshot thanks to a couple of cleverly placed posts.

Private Donald Duck has snuck off base for some unauthorized R&R. But his clever ruse (a dummy and a sound effects record) don't fool Sergeant Pete, who's waiting for him when he sneaks back in. Donald hides in one of three boxes and plays the shell game for a while, until Pete throws the box with Donald along the top of a sharp fence, sawing it in half. Donald lands in a hole, and both he and Pete think he's been sawed in half, for a while. Donald discovers he's OK, but his joy is shortlived when Pete gives chase (a chase slowed considerably by the 35 MPH national speed limit).
