Глядач побачить повний судовий процес над Жанною д'Арк, який відбувався 1431 року у французькому Руані (за даними документальних свідчень очевидців події). Процес тривав майже цілий рік, однак режисер вирішив вмістити його в один день. Усе починається з того, що духовний суд проводить допит Жанни д`Арк, щоб вибити з дівчини визнання провини. Формально вона звинувачується у чаклунстві, але до суду її тримають як військовополонену.Їй погрожують жорстокими знущанням, катуванням, хочуть лишити причащання. Допит продовжується цілий день. Дух Жанни д`Арк не був зломлений навіть перед самою стратою. Вона зустріла смерть на вогні, але так і не зізналась у своєму "злочині".
