У Лондоні невловимий вбивця нападає вночі на молодих блондинок і залишає на їх трупах шматочки паперу з підписом «Месник». В одному будинку з'являється новий мешканець, нервовий чоловік з маленькою шкіряною валізою. Кімнату йому здає мати Дейзі, молодої манекенниці. У Дейзі є коханий, поліцейський, який розслідує ці вбивства. Дивна поведінка нового мешканця насторожує: він забирає з кімнати картини, на яких зображені молоді блондинки, часто відсутній ночами, закриває обличчя довгим шарфом. Він подобається Дейзі, що викликає обґрунтовані ревнощі поліцейського. Її мати стурбована іншим, вона ділиться своїми підозрами з чоловіком, який розділяє її думку, тим більше, що новий злочин скоєно неподалік від їхнього будинку.
