XIII століття, епоха хрестових походів. Папа Римський доручає своєму бастарду Максу, відомому своєю жорстокістю, відправитися на північ і підпорядкувати волелюбних земгалів, відкидаючих християнство. A fabulous sequence of bloodwork is unleashed - anyone who comes into contact with this secret is in danger of dying.
