The film is based on the second book from the Adventures of Erast Petrovich Fandorin series of novels written by the Russian author Boris Akunin. The film takes place in 1877 during the Russian-Turkish war. Erast Fandorin has just escaped from Turkish prison and is trying to get on the Russian side as soon as possible to give important information about the upcoming attack of the enemy. On his way he meets Varvara Suvorova, a young lady who is going to see her fiancée - a soldier of the Russian army. Erast also knows that there is a spy somewhere in the Russian army, everyone is under suspicion...

Показуючи дочкам на лелеку в небі, Назарет Манукян і подумати не міг, що він скоро пропаде, як і ця птиця. Перша Світова Війна внесла в життя вірмен метушню і нещастя. Після атаки турків на рідне місто Манукяна, чоловік виявляється далеко від сім’ї, не знаючи навіть, де його дружина і дочки. Через роки геноциду, блукач починає шукати своїх рідних, не знаючи, чи живі вони чи ні.Сюжет

Один з наймогутніших правителів минулого, перський цар Ксеркс, влаштував грандіозний бенкет. На сьомий день бенкету він захотів показати гостям свою красуню-дружину, але отримав від цариці відмову. Тоді Ксеркс позбавив дружину царської гідності і зажадав принести йому найкрасивіших дівчат з усіх кінців світу. Юній Естер вдалося завоювати прихильність царя і стати його новою дружиною.Сюжет
Один з наймогутніших правителів минулого, перський цар Ксеркс, влаштував грандіозний бенкет. На сьомий день бенкету він захотів показати гостям свою красуню-дружину, але отримав від цариці відмову. The historical fact of a possible assassination attempt on the President-Elect Abraham Lincoln makes the movie very interesting. The drama comes from a fictitious New York police sergeant discovering the plot and boarding the last train to Washington, DC, to protect the new president to be. Dick Powell does a very good job using deduction and logic to find who on the train could be conspirators. He is foiled at different times but manages to succeed even when the conspirators have caught him. The movie's action takes place mostly on the train and the effects of travelling are well done. Historically, several states have already seceded from the union and that included Virginia. That's why Lincoln had to travel to Washington, DC, through Maryland, also a slave state. When he was taking his own "Inaugural Train" the plan was to kill Lincoln in Baltimore during a long stop but Lincoln's supporters did some slight of hand to sneak him on board the last train to the capital. Maybe not Oscar material but a very enjoyable piece of entertainment.
