Екранізація народної казки з Піднебесної. Три брати були настільки схожі, що навіть батьки не могли їх розрізнити. Кожен із них з народження володів надздібностями. Та у кожного вони були різні: контроль водної стихії, управління вогняними бурями і вміння спілкуватися з усіма створіннями природи, переважно з тваринами і птахами.

A poor fisherman catches the golden fish that promises him to fulfill three wishes if he sets her free again. He does so and the fish fulfills two of his three wishes. However, she refuses to fulfill the third one, the last one in which the fisherman's wife wants to be equal to God. Jirà Trnka made this picture according to Jan Werich's version of the tale with Werich himself as the narrator.

Він з відомої в цьому районі родини — адже його батько служить у самого Санта Клауса. Вже відомо, що Рудольф теж стане одним з оленів Санти. Він з нетерпінням чекає, коли приєднається до різдвяної упряжки і буде допомагати розвозити подарунки дітям по всьому світу. Але у нього на обличчі є одна проблема, яка ускладнює його життя і робить його предметом насмішок — це його постійно червоний і при цьому сяючий ніс.

Donald has an unpleasant evening when a mysterious book salesman comes to his door then disappears leaving Donald with a collection of whodunnit novels. He reads one and gets so fully involved in it that it appears that the characters are actually coming out of the book and into his living room getting him involved in the murder caper. Finally the author of the book, J. Harold King, steps forth and claims Donald innocent. The characters return to the novel from whence they came leaving Donald wondering if it was really just his "imagination".
