In wake of the First Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895), a group of Japanese warlords calculate that the best way to prepare an invasion of the rest of China from their southern Manchuria staging ground. They form an alliance with General Tao, a major power broker in the kingdom, prompting other Chinese generals to rally against him. The chief asset among these patriots is martial arts master named "Rapid Fist" Sau Pai-lung who subsequently thwarts every assassination attempt and other acts of subversion committed by the Japanese forces. Unable to vanquish Sau with battalions of riflemen and ninjas, the invaders enlist the services of several notorious killers, including pole-fighting monk Yin Feng and ruthless gunslinger Black Crane. They attack Sau with an array of exotic weaponry including a double-barrel shotgun that resembles an over-sized fan. At one point, when the Japanese find their backs against the wall, they use magic to bring back three men from the dead, transforming them into unstoppable kung-fu zombies! Of course, master Sau outfights and outwits them all.

A snake style expert travels the lands, imposing his mastery on others, until he runs into a monkey expert living on the edge of a small town, who defeats him soundly. The snake expert leaves vowing vengeance. A young peasant boy who is bullied by local noblemen seeks to learn drunken boxing from the head of a local martial arts school. The boys learns and eventually meets and befriends the monkey style expert. When the boy beats up his previous tormentors, the nobles patriarch challenges the boys teacher, the drunken master, who defeats the lot of them. Embarrased, the nobles retain two hired snake style killers, one of whom is the expert that that was beaten by the monkey style. They kill everyone except the peasant boy, feeling he is to weak and unskilled to be worth their honour. The peasant combines drunken' boxing with monkey style in an attempt to put down the snake killers.

This pisses off the villain's spirit and he forces the priest to reincarnate him - only they can't find a suitable body. Meanwhile, an undead fiend of sorts comes to town to kill Billy's father over some other past dispute. This is where all of Billy's kung fu training comes in handy, and he manages to kill the attacker. With this, the other bad guy finally has a body to use, but the reincarnation goes wrong and the corpse is reborn as a vampire.
