Yekta, 11 years old, is born and still lives in a mysterious, castle-like house, at the shore of the Bosphorus, together with her lame seagull, her spinster aunt, Nukhet Seza, and her grandfather, Sirri, paralyzed and bedridden, following the death of his son and bride. The bedroom of her mother is the place where Yekta takes shelter in, to daydream and hide her secrets. All she knows about her mother is that she had left one day in a little boat on the Bosphorus and that she would never return. One night, Yekta sees her mother go by in a little boat, through the window pane of her mother's room. But no one believes her. Her younger aunt Neyyir, an English-language teacher living on the Burgaz Island, wants her to be registered in the boarding school on the island. She thus aims to get her away from her longing for her mother and from that weird, haunted-like house. But Yekta is unwilling to go the island. One day, just like her mother, she leaves in a little boat and gets offshore. She is found before getting drowned. After a short while she sets off for the island, along with her aunt, Neyyire.

Osman earns his living as a porter. He lives in a small house with his wife, children and mother-in-law. He is in debt from top to toes. His wife and mother-in-law belittle him a lot. Osman buys a lottery ticket from Sakir and hides it somewhere. As he finds out that the the jackpot has been won by one of the tickets Sakir has sold, he believes that the lucky person is himself! He is happy to be a millionaire! Everybody hears this and in the neighborhood they treat him extraordinarily kind and spoil him with gifts. But the truth comes out as he finds the ticket - he has won nothing! Now all his fake friends blame him and even send him to court for deceiving them. The Lottery Institution hears about Osman, and offers him to take part in their commercials of the Lottery. However, Osman doesn't want to even hear about the word "lottery"!

The story takes us back to the 17th century Istanbul, and the powerful times of the Ottoman Empire under the rule of Sultan Murad IV. Hezarfen Ahmet Celebi, Logari Celebi, Bekri Mustafa and Evliya Celebi are four good friends who do research to enable human beings to fly. During the sea battle which took place between the Ottoman Empire and the Italians, a ship which had been seized in the Mediterranean Sea is brought to Istanbul, and a young wounded lady named Francesca, the daughter of the killed Captain, becomes a slave for Hezarfen Ahmet Celebi. Hezarfen heals Francesca's wounds, who has been working on deciphering Leonardo DA Vinci's works in Rome and soon, although she is mute, they start working to find out the secret of flying. Meanwhile they fall in love with each other. The film, also illustrate the days of the Ottoman Empire in the 17th century. In a very strict and powerful environment, the principal four characters struggle to realize their dream, and among the generous surroundings of historical parts of Istanbul, lies a great historical drama.
