Знаного кардіохірурга з Варшави Рафала Вільчура, у восьму річницю шлюбу, покидає дружина. Згорьований професор, безцільно блукаючи містом, приймає запрошення випадкового знайомого піти випити горілки. Опритомнів він на другий день десь за містом, без документів і грошей, а найгірше, що після удару по голові, лікар утратив пам'ять. Не пам'ятаючи хто він, лікар стає волоцюгою і рятується випадковими заробітками. Через п'ятнадцять років він наймається до мельника Прокопа у млин і ставить на ноги сина господаря – Василя, який після нещасного випадку не міг ходити. Після цього випадку простий робітник став найвідомішим знахарем в околиці.Сюжет
