Сюжет
Відсидівши майже п'ятнадцять років у в'язниці, колишній власник готелю Ян Дітє відправляється на постійне місце проживання в Судети і поселяється в одному з покинутих біженцями будинків. Переосмисливши прожите життя, заспокоєний і умиротворений, він згадує свою молодість, яка відбулася у постійному прагненні до збагачення. Починаючи свій шлях з роздрібної торгівлі, він стає офіціантом, змінюючи за допомогою протекції свого нового знайомого скромну пивну на фешенебельний ресторан. Одруження на етнічної німкені дозволило знайти роботу і після гітлерівської окупації. В кінці війни Ліза привезла колекцію рідкісних поштових марок, зібрану нею в будинках виселених євреїв. Продаж марок, отриманих таким шляхом, дозволила Яну стати мільйонером і власником готелю. Ціною успіху стало життя Лізи, яка намагалася врятувати марки під бомбардуванням, і арешт самого Дітє, після націоналізації його майна новими комуністичною владою.

Одруження на етнічної німкені дозволило знайти роботу і після гітлерівської окупації. В кінці війни Ліза привезла колекцію рідкісних поштових марок, зібрану нею в будинках виселених євреїв. Продаж марок, отриманих таким шляхом, дозволила Яну стати мільйонером і власником готелю. Ціною успіху стало життя Лізи, яка намагалася врятувати марки під бомбардуванням, і арешт самого Дітє, після націоналізації його майна новими комуністичною владою.

V jedné zapadlé brdské hospodě, kde odpradávna sídlili čerti, se usadí dva vykutálení podvodníci - Berta (M. Hádek) a Vitouš (P. Zedníček). Spolu s nimi tu tráví čas i čert snad té nejnižší kategorie, čertovský učeň a outsider Záprtek (J. Mádl). Když ale hospodu navštíví pekelná inspekce, vydávají se oba vykutálení podvodníčci za čerty. Ovšem čerti to nejsou, a tak váženou pekelnou institucí důrazně požadovaný úpis ani nemají, ani ho nedokážou sehnat. Pošlou pro něj tedy nešťastného Záprtka. Smůla je, že také Záprtek nevyniká žádnou z pekelných dovedností a s úkolem si neumí poradit. Právě v tom čase v Jílovém jistá velice bohatá milostpaní (N. Konvalinková), která miluje nade vše zlato, zatouží po zlatých očích. Ty ovšem nedokáže vyrobit ani zlatnický mistr, a tak pro oči ze zlata musí jít služebná Anička (T. Pauhofová), tak trochu za trest, protože jí milostpaní neprávem podezřívá z krádeže. Jenže - kde se dají najít oči ze zlata, to nikdo neví. Snad jedině v pekle by mohli něco tušit. A tak se zoufalá Anička ocitá před pekelnou branou. Naštěstí se tu setkává se stejně zoufalým a nešťastným čertem Záprtkem. Jak už to v životě bývá, když se dva, kterým osud zatím nepřál, potkají, nejspíš v sobě najdou zalíbení. A stejné je to i s Aničkou a Záprtkem. A tak si s úkoly poradí společně..

Колись давно жила-була дівчинка Саксана, юна учениця школи магії, яка втекла з Чарівної Країни в Світ Людей. Roming is a comical road movie about three Romas' journey from North Bohemia to Slovakia. Jura (VÃtezslav Holub) is a modern, rational young man who is studying at university and doing well. When his father (Marián Labuda) asks him to go to Slovakia with him to meet his bride-to-be - from an agreement Jura's father made with his best friend when Jura was still a boy - Jura can't believe his ears. At first he rejects the ridiculous request, but it doesn't take long before he folds under his father's emotional blackmail. Together with the temperamental and uncontrollable family friend Stano (Bolek PolÃvka), they set off in an old delivery van on a cross-country trip. Roming is an exceptional film in all ways. Just below the surface of the comedy-road movie genre is the universal message of human solidarity, tolerance, and searching for one's own identity. The screenplay won the Sazka Prize and came in first in the national round for the international Hartley-Merrill Prize.
