7.3 Сюжет
У основу фільму ліг сюжет п'єси знаменитого драматурга Ільяса Ефендієва «Правитель і його дочка». Карабахський правитель кінця XVIII — початку XIX століття Ібрагим хан, щоб об'єднати своє ослаблене економічно від воєн і страждаюче від феодальної роз'єднаності володіння і захистити його від експансії з боку Ірану, приймає мудре, самовіддане і трагічне рішення. Воно ще раз доводить, що, на жаль, «не всі можуть королі» і що доля будь-якого правителя - заручниця країни, якою даний правитель володіє. Ібрагим хан, щоб зберегти незалежність Карабаху для майбутніх поколінь, погоджується на пропозицію правителя Ірану Фаталі шаху врегулювати питання династичним браком. І видає за нього заміж свою дочку, Агабейім ага. Та, будучи закоханою в Садай бека, карабахського візиря, проте розуміє, що і вона не вольна в своєму виборі і повинна принести своє щастя в жертву Батьківщині, її майбутньому. І підкоряється волі батька і голосу патріотизму.

Ali fights the Bolsheviks with the Azerbaijani militia and Nino helps nurse wounded soldiers during the March Days massacre in Baku.

The old man stuck to the principle: "Live each day as if it was your last". Every evening he lay down to die. Waking up the next morning he shambled to the fridge. It wasn't an easy companion. It would husk and jump, and then break off abruptly. It annoyed the old man. He couldn't predict the mood of his only friend. Every day he would sit down opposite the fridge and write: "8.00 - turned on; 9.15 - turned off; 9.47 - turned on...". Thus he hoped to comprehend the consistent pattern, in accordance to which his friend lived. That day started as usual. The old man woke up alive and headed to the porch. The fridge was in particular nasty. The old man got angry and switched on TV - for the first time in years. It changed his life forever.
