Knut Hamsun is Norway's most famous and admired author. Ever since he was young he has hated the English for the starvation they caused Norway during WWI. When the Germans occupy Norway on April 9, 1940, he welcomes them and the protection they can give from Great Britain. He supports the national socialist ideals, but opposes the way these ideals are turned into action - that Norwegians are jailed and executed. Але це зовсім не подобається чоловіку, що повернувся з війни…
Сюжет
Захопившись фотографією і навчившись знімати, Марія розуміє, що окрім безкінечних домашніх проблем, існує і інший світ. Її знімки — особливі. Городяни все частіше звертаються до неї з проханням зробити родинні фотографії. Поступово з’ясовується, що у Марії Ларссон справжній талант фотографа! Від нудьги жителів рятують лише курси, організовувані муніципалітетом. І коли заїжджий італієць відкриває клас італійської мови, найнещасніші та найсамотніші містяни на них записуються і старанно вивчають мову Данте. І ніщо, навіть смерть вчителя під час уроку, не може їх зупинити. А разом з італійською в їхні життя приходить щастя. Невелике, але дуже важливе та потрібне. І в кожного – своє.
