In Beograd, mid-1990s, 20 people's paths crisscross one night in rage and theater. A callow youth dents a car; its owner hunts him down and trashes his father's flat. Michael, back from abroad, hopes to reclaim Natalia; her new, younger lover seems outclassed. A Bosnian drives a bus to eke out subsistence; his son works the Black Market for a sadist. A cabby buys drinks for a cop he crippled in revenge. Swarthy friends at a gym confess betrayals of each other; violence erupts, then one menaces a woman on a train. Another young woman, traumatized when a knife-wielding youth commandeers her bus, calls for help and ends up with a gun at her head. It's a cabaret macabre.

Alek is desperate because Teodora has left him after a three years being together. He is suffering, he is apathetic and is mentioning suicide constantly, he simply doesn't want to accept that the relationship is over. He has self-pitying sessions with his friend Bane everyday. Despite Bane's advice, Alek keeps calling Teodora who has fallen in love with Nemanja in the meantime. However decisive and tough Teodora is when she is with Alek, she is as indulgent and helpless when she is spending time with Nemanja. The problem is that Nemanja is not in love with her but with Marina, a girl by a few years younger. Unfortunately, Marina is not in love with him, she is very attracted to Alek's "Slavic depression". She doesn't know that reason for his "charm of a desperate" is his failure with Teodora, she thinks Alek was born like that.

Жителі справжнього Лондона не в змозі бачити драконів, на відміну від жителів Паралельного Лондона.У цьому «паралельному» місті існує спеціальна організація захисту природних драконів. Однак там є тільки одне непорушне правило — звичайним людям не можна доторкатися до драконів. Контактувати з ними можуть лише маги та відьми, а порушникам загрожує 100 років в’язниці або ж смертна кара.
