Перший звуковий фільм українського кіно Авангардист та апологет неігрового кіно Дзиґа Вертов з соратниками-кіноками Михаїлом Кауфманом та Єлізавєтою Свіловою переїхав працювати в Україну на ВУФКУ в 1927 році. Тут йому вдалося зняти три фільми й саме тут, в «Людині з кіноапаратом» (1929), вдалося реалізувати його давні задуми та експерименти описані ще в його першому маніфесті 1918 року. Проте лише в «Ентузіязмі» вдалося вперше створити давно омріяний звуковий (радіо-, тон-) фільм.

Visit its art galleries and exhibitions, take a glimpse of famous painter Fujita, of Luis Buñuel eying the legs of beautiful Parisian passing the terrace of the café where he is sitting, of three Italian futurists, Marinetti, Prampolini and Russolo. But besides being a cosmopolitan hub for creators, Montparnasse is also a popular quarter, busy with the lives of its ordinary inhabitants, with its markets and flea markets, with its brats looking at a street circus show. For the next two days, masked figures play dice, frolic by the pool, perform exercises with a ball. Two new figures arrive. Masked. They search and find the dice. They dance. Shafts turn some mechanism that is out of sight. Screws revolve and move other gears; a bit rotates. More subtle mechanisms move other mechanical parts for unknown purposes. Weights rise and fall. The movements, underscored by sound, are rhythmic. Circles, squares, rods, and teeth are in constant and sometimes asymmetrical motion. These human-made mechanical bits seem benign and reassuring.
