Фільм починається з того, що головний герой, Альфонс, входить вночі в метро і заговорює з незнайомцем, разом з яким вони чекають потяг на порожній платформі. Незнайомець виявляється бухгалтером. Депардьє ділиться з бухгалтером своїми фантазіями на тему про вбивства, дістає з кишені викидний ніж і пропонує його бухгалтеру. Бухгалтер відмовляється від ножа і кладе його на лаву, проте коли співбесідники спохвачуються, ножа на лаві вже немає. Підходить потяг, бухгалтер схоплюється в потяг і їде, Альфонс залишається на платформі.
