Директор Беднаж в шестидесяті керує будівництвом комбінату, розташованого на місці вирубаного заповідного лісу і житлових селищ, хоча зовсім неподалік, але в другом воєводстві, була більш відповідна для цього неосвоєна територія. Дуже скоро з'ясовується помилковість такого рішення, але виправити вже нічого не можна. Конфлікти з місцевими жителями і працівниками комбінату трапляються все частіше і гостріше.
