Дія детективного телесеріалу розгортається на невеликому острівці, розташованому у Карибському морі. Цей клаптик суші вже неодноразово змінював свого власника, опиняючись то під владою Франції, то Великобританії, у результаті чого населення острова виявилося змішаним. Одного разу, при досить дивних обставинах вбивають британського детектива, який допомагав місцевій поліції у розслідуванні злочинів. Для розслідування цієї складної та заплутаної справи зі столиці Сполученого Королівства прибуває досвідчений інспектор Річард Пул. Він не у захваті від свого нового завдання, тому що недолюблює тропіки, і найбільше мріє скоріше повернутися додому. Пул навіть подумати не міг, що розкривши цей злочин, йому доведеться залишитися на острові і зайняти місце вбитого детектива...
