Утену можна сміливо назвати шедевром. Це аніме настільки своєрідне, що може просто не підпадати під стандартні критерії оцінки. Можна назвати дуже багато достоїнств цього твору, в першу чергу, приголомшливе завершення, але на кожний плюс, на жаль, знаходиться мінус, що не дозволяє мені поставити вищі бали.

Куніеда Кей - співведучий вечірнього шоу. Така робота йому подобається, але доводиться багато в чому себе обмежувати. Тож для того, аби давати вихід накопиченому стресу, він перевдягається у непримітного молодика і носить медичну маску. На одному з інтерв'ю він знайомиться з режисером-аніматором Цудзукі Ушіо, а потім випадково стикається з ним у своєму непримітному образі. Аби приховати свою особистість, Кей називає себе Оварі. В цьому образі він проводить з Ушіо чимало часу, допомагаючи йому з проєктом. Але ж колись таки доведеться зізнатися, хто він насправді.
