На знак вдячності туркам люди гетьмана гнали цілі села своїх же одноплемінників і продавали їх у рабство до Кафи. У цей же час очільник Січі дізнавшись про це, наказав знайти і покарати зрадників свого народу. Курінні козаки наздогнали три сотні работоргівців біля одного хутора, де вони були порубані на частини, позбавлені натільних хрестів і викинуті у річку, щоб земля українська не прийняла зрадників.

У середньовіччі волелюбним ірландцям постійно доводилося зіштовхуватися з експансією з боку англійської корони, яка безуспішно намагалася поневолити сусідній народ. Каральні загони англійців час від часу здійснювали спустошливі набіги на ірландські міста й села.
