Метт Шейді - перспективний хокеїст. Він вже досяг неймовірного успіху, за його плечима безліч забитих голів, престижних нагород, він любимо прихильницями і своєю країною. Метт уклав вигідний контракт, який обіцяє йому неймовірні прибутки. Проте несподівано для всіх хлопець приймає рішення покинути спорт і кардинально змінити рід своєї діяльності. І тут доля зводить колишню зірку спорту з Енджі Евереттом, неймовірно розумним і успішним детективом, після знайомства з яким Шейду приходить в голову ідея спробувати себе в ролі детектива. Незважаючи на відсутність досвіду і відповідної освіти Метта, Еверетт все-таки бере ініціативного хлопця до себе і вводить у курс справи приватного розшуку.
