Changed hands 4 years ago and the small Ottoman tribe is just being transformed as a local state, on the remains of the old Eastern Roman Empire. The story takes place in an unrecorded period time, the last 2 months in the lives of two legendary Turkish stand-up comedians, Karagoz & Hacivat? They lived and died during the first clashes of the decaying Eastern Roman Empire and the first Ottomans of the 14th century Anatolia. Their stories and characters are adapted for traditional shadow theatre of the later Ottoman Empire, in modern Turkey and all over the Middle-East, Greece, and western Asia. Their legend and the truth about their tragic deaths are twisted and distorted, although their stingy humor still lingers on. After the the leader of the growing tribe of Ottomans, Orhan Gazi, notices the talents of two construction workers, famous among their friends with their clever and unending jokes, he rewarded them. But they were executed when he learns that they were keeping their co-workers laughing at their jokes during work hours, and causing a delay in the construction of the mosque to be named after Orhan Bey.

Celal, lives an unhappy family life with his wife Sevilay and his child in a small town. Celal and his brother Cemal, running an electrician shop which doesn't go well. They are in debt. The only fun they have is going to the night clubs in Samsun. Celal's love for Sibel Ceylan who works in the night club, will cause him trouble. Celal's wife, Sevilay, saves her money, sent by her father who lives in Germany. She is unaware of the fact that Celal knows her secret. Living an unhappy life, Celal thinks that this money will be his salvation and makes a plan. He gets an automatic door fixed to his car. He plans to push his wife off the cliff by making it seems like an accident and he plans to possess 75.000 Euros that her wife saves. He carries out his plan but two days after his wife Sevilay comes back unexpectedly. Does she know that the one who pushed her off the cliff was Celal? She can't find the money that she saved through all those years. She wonders if her husband saw the money? Sevilay's questions confuse everybody's minds and causes both Celal and herself to go through many things in their lives.

This film harbors a great premise, a marvelous story and occasionally some hard-boiled comedy.It all starts in modern-day Istanbul when a young man starts speaking to an unidentified person. We assume that the boy is talking to a psychiatrist, but it later turns out that the case is not so much clinical, as it is personal. Apparently, the boy's extended family is selling their 50-year-old house, which was bought by and still belongs to Grandfather Mahir (Can Kolukisa). Mahir is a highly devout man; he's 84 years old, and seems to have accepted that his son and daughter need the money from the sale. Unfortunately, things start going wrong when the family sits down to close the deal at the land registry office; the old man starts experiencing mild amnesia and the officials ask the family to get an official sanity report for their beloved patriarch. The good doctor taking care of Mahir puts it simple and easy: Mahir is experiencing dissociative personality syndrome and thinks that he's a Greek Orthodox tavern owner who is in dire need of Turkish Raki.
