Motel Halali is an ideal place. Isolated deep in the forest, not a living soul turns up all the livelong year except the staff. This is a perfect place for Dr. Reinis's (Jaroslav Dusek) course designed to help people find meaning in life. Course participants learn something about what it means to live and even more about what it means to survive. That's because a zombie comes stalking out of a forest smelling of needles, decay, and blood. Our heroes must stand alone against it, without hope of help, without a chance in this most desolate, Godforsaken spot in Bohemia.

In World War II Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia, a childless couple, Josef and Marie Cizek, can only watch while the Jewish family of their employers, the Wieners, are first removed from their own home to a spare room in their house by the Nazis, then deported to Theresienstadt concentration camp. Years later, young David Wiener, the sole surviving member of that family has managed to escape and make it to the Cizeks. Although fully aware of the extreme danger of harbouring a Jew in the Third Reich, the Cizek's can not permit themselves to leave David to certain death and agree to hide him. However, this decision leads to terrible danger of discovery by the Nazis and especially their friend and Nazi collaborator, Horst Prohazka, who is attracted to Marie. With desperate cleverness and luck, the Cizeks struggle to keep the secret, even when Horst begins to suspect. In doing so, they find themselves making unorthodox choices and learning about the true nature of the people around them.

A tale about love, forgiveness and the ability to help others selflessly. Angel Petronel (Ivan Trojan) is a charming muddle-pate, whatever he touches he wrecks or ruins, even the honorable office he is entrusted with as Guardian of the Heavenly Gate. By way of punishment, God (Jirà Bartoska) sends him down to Earth, so that he learns about how hard it is to live a blameless life. But what a calamity it becomes, having this scatterbrain try to convince people that he is God's messenger! Moreover, what can one expect of an angel who is naive enough to believe that Uriah the Devil (Jirà Dvorák) is his friend! Luckily he has support up in Heaven - all the saints and their miracles. Finally he grows wise, he is even willing to go to hell in order to help the blossoming of a romance between the Count and his impoverished Dorothy.
