Майбутнє. Планета Земля. Людство гине, воно неспроможне встояти перед безжалісною чумою, що вже два сторіччя лютує на земній кулі. Використовуючи новітні досягнення науки, спецназ під командуванням Джона Фостера вирушає у минуле, щоб у льодах Арктики перешкодити вченим-полярникам увійти в контакт із уламками зараженого метеорита й знищити епідемію у зародку. Але бунт екіпажу посланців із майбутнього зриває плани експедиції. Коли важко пораненого Фостера рятують полярники, він розуміє, що ситуація близька до катастрофи - інопланетний вірус знайшов свою першу жертву й до того ж у Фостера з'явився новий ворог, який повернувся в минуле, щоб розпорядитися вірусом на свій лад...
