He then finds himself mortgaged to a wealthy man, Prabhart Singh in return for Gundya's confiscated boat and thus ends up as a servant boy at a mansion in Kolkata. It is here where he meets Prabhart's beautiful daughter Meenakshi and mute (not dumb or deaf) niece Shruti. After many convolutions later, Jeetu and Shruti fall in love, and Mangal (Shruti's brother and the true head of the family) is ready to have them married, but something from Jeetu 's past comes back to haunt him .

Prem and Poonam also approved of each other, the Astrologer was consulted and a marriage was scheduled to take place in six months time. Shortly thereafter the engagement took place. The two families met again in Som Sarovar, Nainital, to let everyone get acquainted, and when Prem got his first contract from Japan, Krishnakant took his family to Delhi to celebrate. With the deadline for the marriage drawing close, both families start their respective preparations - not knowing that fate may have other plans in store for this young couple.

There are lots of Gods in Hindu India. One of the Gods is called Yama, or the God of death. In this case Yama is asked to bring in the lifeless body of a rich Indian called Aditya. Yama does so. On the way, Aditya soul pleads with him to set him free and back to life again, as he has a lot of unfinished business to attend to. Yama refuses to do so. But when Aditya persists, Yama lets him have a second chance. He tells the dead man that he can live, resolve all his problems within a set period of time. Then after that Yama will come again and take his life. Aditya is then sent down to Earth so that he can try and resolve the problems that he had left unfinished. But Aditya finds that he cannot touch anything, and no one can really see nor hear him. So how he is going to solve his problems? Will Yama help him out?Aditya (Shahid Kapoor) is a happy man: his sister is getting married, he is in love with his sweetheart Piya (Amrita Rao) and he has recently invented a new revolutionary car model. But his happiness is short-lived when he dies in an accident and is sent to heaven. He pleads with Yamaraj 'M.A.' (Sanjay Dutt), the God-cum-Messenger of death and requests to be sent to earth for some time. Widowed Colonel Khurana, a resident of India, goes to London, accumulates enough wealth, returns to India, opens a private Sanatorium for the insane, and hires his daughter, Tanvi, as one of the psychiatrists'. His second-in-charge is Dr. Sunil. Tanvi looks after patient #36, a woman by the name of Shobhna Mathur, quite lovingly, almost like the mother she never had. Then Shobhna gets well, is discharged and unable to recollect Tanvi's loving care. This does hurt Tanvi, so she decides never to get close to any patient, especially the new patient #36, Anand J. Sharma, who has been admitted by a Court Order. Circumstances do make Tanvi and Anand get close, so close that they fall in love with each other. But her disciplinarian father has chosen a suitor named Karan, and is not willing to take the risk of Tanvi marrying a mental patient, especially one like Anand, who has been arrested and charged with killing his fiancée, Maya.

The team, led by Choudhary Vikramjeet Singh, has never won the Aman Cup against their rivals, Pakistan Champs, led by Pathan Liqayat Ali Khan. She dons the guise of a turbaned Sikh, complete with beard and mustache, and calls herself Veer Pratap Singh. In this way she manages to convince the new, rather arrogant and brash Team Captain, Rohan Singh - a British County Cricket all-rounder, and the son of Vikramjeet - to include her in this team. Things all appear to be going well until accusations are leveled against her for attempting to sexually molest Rohan's leggy girlfriend - none other than Miss Chandigarh 2008, Soniya Saluja - which may well blow Veera's cover and prevent her from ever playing for any Indian Cricket team.
