In 1943, during the war, Francesca, widowed, moves with her three daughters to her country house, to get away from the bombing of Bologna. In the villa she finds her childhood friends and her old love Guido, who has not forgotten her. Francesca has a passion for everything that comes from America, like music and cinema. She even tells her daughters that her husband who died in the war would actually leave for the USA, where he would live.

A parody/homage to Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance, The Pirate Movie is a comedy/musical utilizing both new songs and parodies from the original, as well as references to popular films of the time, including Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark. In your typical boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy fights girl with swords plot, the story revolves around Mabel, the youngest of Maj. Gen. Stanley's many daughters, and Frederic, an ex-Pirate of Penzance. They fall in love and proceed to retrieve the Stanley's fortune from the Pirates (stolen 20 years ago). The Pirate King informs Frederic that due to him being born on Feb. 29th (during a leap year), Frederic is still technically the King's apprentice. Frederic must then decide between duty and honor, the only good qualities the King taught him, and true love.

From a very early age Mahesh Deshmukh has dreams of serving his country; his encouragement and dreams multiplies when his parents are killed by a gang of robbers who plan to loot the bank they are employed in. He then joins the Indian armed forces whereby he excel in the services he honestly provide to his country. During his college days he gets to meet his fellow collegian, Mohini who wholeheartedly love him and after placing a bet with his friends over her he then began to love her whereby he manages to convince her of his love. Mohini's father Shyamlal is an alcoholic and wants her to dance and take up prostitution as her profession so that she can be able to provide money for his daily share of alcohol. This does not anger well with Mahesh who decides to put a stop to this only to find himself at loggerheads with Shyamlal who takes the help of a gangster, Lotiya Pathan to frame Mahesh, gets him arrested, charged and outcast by law from the city of Bombay for a period of a year. This then transform the simple-minded lad who has dreams for his country into the city's most dreaded gangster, Munna whose only motive in life is revenge.
