Tales of the Unexpected is a British television series which aired between 1979 and 1988. Each episode told a story, often with sinister and wryly comedic undertones, with an unexpected twist ending. Early episodes were based on short stories by Roald Dahl collected in the books Tales of the Unexpected, Kiss Kiss and Someone Like You.The series was made by Anglia Television for ITV with interior scenes recorded at their Norwich studios whilst location filming mainly occurred across East Anglia. The theme music for the series was written by composer Ron Grainer.

Finding herself pregnant at the age of 43 leaves Liz less than impressed and in a gift that keeps on giving she then finds out she is expecting twins. The Jackson's three grown up children also need some time to process the news.

Tom Chance's life is plagued by coincidences. Even his initial meeting with his beloved Alison happened by pure chance - when he went to a local pub to meet another girl (also called Alison) for a 'blind date'. As this was the same pub that Alison had arranged to meet her cousin, Tom Chesney, for the first time since they were both children, it was a coincidence waiting to happen! Tom Chance's frequent brushes with coincidences also lead to his being continually arrested by police for crimes he did not commit, with the result that the Police Sergeant finally issues instructions, to his force, *not* to arrest Tom - even when faced with the most compromising of circumstances involving Tom.

This show is set in the year 1927. Lord Meldrum is a wealthy widower and he owns a rubber factory. He lives with his brother Teddy, mother in law Lady Lavender and two daughters, Poppy and Cissy. Meldrum is having an affair with Lady Agatha, wife of his rival Sir Ralph. He is trying to persuade Teddy to marry a socialite Madge Cartwright, but Teddy fancies servant girls more than the upper class ladies so he's reluctant to marry Madge. Poppy is a flapper who often flirts with the servant James. She's very different from her sister Cissy - in appearance as well as in attitude. Cissy fancies women more than men, she wears male clothes and is a member of the workers movement and a workers political party. Lady Lavender is extravagant, she owns a parrot and likes to throw food at servants. The servants live downstairs and they consist of Mrs. Lipton, the cook; James, a stuck up and snobbish servant; Henry, the youngest servant who usually gets kicked behind the ear by James or Mrs. Lipton. The butler Stokes was the last to join the servants, with his daughter Ivy, the maid. He is shady and despises the rich. During the WWI, he and James were in the trenches with Teddy. They saved his life and on account of that, Stokes gets the position of a butler upon his arrival at the house. The lowest ranked amongst the servants is poor Mable, the washing lady. She doesn't live with Meldrums.

It is a parody of another BBC programme, the wartime drama Secret Army. 'Allo, 'Allo! was created by David Croft, who also wrote the theme music, and Jeremy Lloyd. Lloyd and Croft wrote the first six seasons. The remaining seasons were written by Lloyd and Paul Adam. In 2004, 'Allo 'Allo came 13th in Britain's Best Sitcom. A reunion special, comprising new material, archive clips and specially recorded interviews, was broadcast on 28 April 2007 on BBC Two.
