Вони запросто плавали крижаним морями та вузькими річками, нападаючи на мешканців прибережних земель... Без будь-яких попереджень і навіть елементарного жалю. Згодом це вони стануть нормандцями. Вони були такими цінними наймитами для візантійських імператорів і вічним сумнівом для влади європейських монархів: воїни, работорговці, мандрівники, а також фермери, колоністи, поети, вправні ремісники. Безстрашні, переповнені гордістю, амбіціями і вже вільні.І сьогодні, дивлячись кріз глиб століть, вони кидають виклик історії Північної Америки, оповідаючи нам сказання про Лейфа Еріксона, Щасливого, прибувшого до осторова Вінланд, а фактично Ньюфауленда, але за 500 років до Колумбового відкриття Америки.
