Після голосного розлучення з коханою дружиною процвітаючому викладачеві історії Лорану Моньє доводиться влаштовуватися на роботу в один із самих «жарких» коледжів паризького «дна».Та й квартирку зняти в кримінальному «кольоровому» районі ближче до роботи. Підлітки «дають прикурити» Лорану не тільки на роботі, але й будинку, а отут ще й особисте життя заплутується до крайності. І тоді в скромного історика здають нерви.
