A gentleman with a top hat, and a series of women with ever more ludicrous hats enter a movie theatre. They refuse to remove them, until a giant bucket forcibly removes one hat. All but one woman then remove their hats, and the bucket returns to remove the woman.

Pursued by forest rangers who want to press them into fire-fighting duty, Stanley and Oliver hide in the home of a big-game hunter who has just left town. When they find out that the servants will be away for the weekend, they decide to stay for a while. The house is being offered for rental, and when prospective tenants come, Oliver pretends to be the owner and Stanley pretends to be a servant.

Волоцюга відвідує карнавал. Там кишеньковий злодій підкидає йому гаманець, щоб врятуватися від арешту. Волоцюгу звинувачують у крадіжці та йому доводиться тікати. Rich old Cyrus West's relatives are waiting for him to die so they can inherit. But he stipulates that his will be read 20 years after his death. On the appointed day his expectant heirs arrive at his brooding mansion. The will is read and it turns out that Annabelle West, the only heir with his name left, inherits, if she is deemed sane. If she isn't, the money and some diamonds go to someone else, whose name is in a sealed envelope. Before he can reveal the identity of her successor to Annabelle, Mr. Crosby, the lawyer, disappears. The first in a series of mysterious events, some of which point to Annabelle in fact being unstable.
