Однак через радіоактивне забруднення мешканці села були відселені. 21 червня 1991 року обласна рада зняла село з обліку. Сьогодні у Малих Кліщах залишилося лише двоє жителів. Головні герої фільму – мати та син – Ніна (79 років) та Олександр (62 роки). Попри те, що багато років живуть разом, вони не знаходять спільної мови. За право залишитися у власній домівці вони заплатили найвищу ціну – самотність.
