Головний герой цієї картини на ім’я Крісті є поліцейським, що він відмовляється від арешту хлопця, який, за інформацією, запропонував шкільним приятелям гашиш. Крісті вважає, що закон, так чи так, незабаром зміниться, і він не хоче ламати життя безвідповідальному підлітку, не хоче цим обтяжувати свою совість. Але для начальника Крісті слово «совість» має зовсім інше значення…Для головного героя, поліцейського, совість – це щось усередині людини, вона перешкоджає робити щось погане, таке, про що шкодуватимеш.
