Фільм за однойменним романом Франца Кафки. К. запрошений до Замку виконувати роботу землеміра. Однак на місці він виявляє, що сталася плутанина і землемір Замку не потрібен. Головний герой докладає усіх зусиль для проникнення до Замку, але його чесне бажання працювати і робити як треба зустрічає опір жителів Села. Далеко - далеко, в одні спекотній східній країні, на березі моря, в галасливому і строкатому селищі жила дівчина Мамлакат. Вона дуже любила свого батька і нещасного брата, що втратив на війні розум. Але більше всього на світі вона любила театр. Їй здавалося, що актори - найнезвичайніші люди на світі. Одного разу, місячною ніччю, вона зустріла батька своєї майбутньої дитини - він назвався актором заїжджого театру. І ось Мамлакат вагітна, її батько і брат у відчаї. Щоб уникнути ганьби, все сімейство вирушає на пошуки невдалого "місячного" тата.
