This fact based drama chronicles the last journey of Willem Barentsz and Jacob van Heemskerk on their search for a new passage to the Indies. Due to icy waters, they are stranded on the island of Novaya Zemlya and have to spend the winter there. The story is told through the eyes of Gerrit de Veer, an officer on the same voyage, and is loosely based on the famous diary he published in 1598 after his safe return.

Френкі - 17-річний хлопець з сім'ї Анни та Сімона Апштейнів - єврея, який за часів II Світової Війни провів життя в'язенем фашистських концтаборів, які залишили по собі багато страшних спогадів та відмітину у вигляді порядкового номеру на руці. Весь вільний час Френкі проводить зі своїми друзями панк-рокерами, відвідує рок-клуби, де разом з темношкірим другом Джефрі перебуває у бізнесових відносинах з володільцем клубу, де вони за половину виручки займаються торгівлею наркотиків. Після виявлення у матері Френкі раку, його нестійкі складні відносини з батьком погіршуються, і головний герой примикає до банди скінхедів - неонацистів, з якими він бере участь у рейдах-погромах, внаслідок чого неодноразово потрапляяє до поліцейского відділку. Але зв'язок зі скінхедами прериває його відносини з другом Джефрі та його матір'ю. Під час одної сутички з групою темношкірих людей африканського походження Френк вдаряє одного із супротивників ножем, внаслідок чого він помирає. За це головний герой потрапляє до в'язниці, де також потрапляє у сутички з агресивно-налаштованою проти неонацистів групою темношкірих в'язнів, серед яких є його минулий друг Джефрі. В наслідок спровокованої Френком сутички, один з групи темношкірих вдаряє гоовного герою заточкою, внаслідок чого головний герой помирає.Сюжет

The Story: 170 Hz is a film about unconditional love and the freedom that goes with it. Nick and Evy are two adolescents who fall hopelessly in love with each other. Their love has no voice or sound as they are both deafmute. They have their own ways of communicating with each other, so while being in love already makes them stand apart from the rest of the world, in the splendid isolation of their soundless love they distance themselves from their surroundings even more. When they sense that their parents do not fully agree with them being together, they develop an audacious plan: they will flee and hide in a special place, where Evy will become pregnant and have a baby - they are convinced that once they have a child together nothing and nobody will be able to keep them apart. Nick takes the initiative and drives off with Evy to the hiding place he has meticulously prepared, the wreck of a former Soviet submarine in a distant part of the harbour. Within that metal casing full of sounds and tremors they cannot hear, but with their strongly developed remaining senses, can feel all the more. They concentrate on their baby project. His goal is to warn people about a large-scale fraud, aimed at brainwashing consumers by means of widescreen TV sets. In the film, we find out about John's preliminary frustrations, his bizarre encounter with Philips head of Sound&Vision Gerard Wesselinck, their impossible friendship, rivalry and John's armed attempt to force the executive to do penance in public.
