У фільмі показано кадри зі світового турне A Reality Tour у 2003-04 роках, а також розповідається про останні чотири роки життя артиста. Це продовження фільму 2013 року "Девід Бові. П'ять років" - у тому ж стилі, але з іншим задумом. Режисер кліпу "Lazarus" Йохан Ренк у новому фільмі розповідає, що співак дізнався про те, що його хвороба не піддається лікуванню, коли працював над кліпом до цієї пісні. Однак, Ренк каже, що відео, в якому Бові лежить на лікарняному ліжку з пов'язкою на обличчі і ґудзиками на місці очей, було не про хворобу співака. "Для мене це більше пов'язано з біблійським аспектом, розумієте... людина, що повстає з мертвих. Це не мало нічого спільного з його хворобою", - пояснив він.
