І півтора роки він перебував у слідчому ізоляторі КДБ.Марта Дзюба, дружина Івана — львівʼянка. Вони прожили довге тривожне, сповнене драматичних подій, але щасливе життя. Марта стала його ангелом-охоронцем і присвятила себе чоловікові, допомагаючи йому, оберігаючи його.
Їхню історію ми почуємо з вуст Марти, а Івана бачитимемо лише час від часу. Контрапунктом фільму стає день народження Івана Михайловича — 90-річний ювілей, на який зібралися найближчі йому люди.
