Середина 80-х. В Америці 2 культурних осередки - Нью-Йорк і Лос Анджелес. Два панка животіють у самому центрі Нового Світу, в консервативно налаштованому місті Солт-Лейк-Сіті. Анархія, алкогольний угар, концерти, бійки, ненависть і кохання. Головні герої, Стіво та Боб, ще в школі вирішили стати панками, щоб не бути схожими на „правильних“ і „безликих“ бізнесменів, трудящих в їх рідному місті Солт-Лейк-Сіті. Кілька років по тому, завзяті дружбани закінчують коледж, але за способом життя, манерами і зовнішністю залишаються панками і бунтарями. Вони щосили скаржаться на тяжке життя в „Солт-Лейк-Шітті“ (Shitty - лайно) і на утиски „системи“, яка, втім, рідко втручається в їх життя. Батько Стіво, що був свого часу хіпі, досяг успіху в бізнесі, одного разу декларує синові своє кредо: „Я не продався системі, я її купив“. Inside a week, Diamond's beloved mother dies suddenly, his father appears after an absence of 12 years and wants a relationship, and his girlfriend Kia tells him she's pregnant, asking him if he's ready to be a father. Gage steals $100,000 in a multiple-felony robbery so that Diamond can record a full album, not knowing it's Mr. B's money he's taken. B wants his money, Diamond wants his music, Kia wants an answer.
