Дія фільма відбувається в приватному готелі в Туреччині, провінція Каппадокія. Власник готелю, колишній актор Айдін, живе з дружиною Ніхаль та розлученою сестрою Незлою. Окрім готелю, у Айдіна є також кілька будинків у містечку, які він здає в оренду. Фільм являє собою картини з життя перелічених головних та кількох другорядних персонажів.Не буду описувати всі достоїнства картини, золота пальмова гілка Каннського фестивалю говорить сама за себе. Скажу лиш, що це новий шедевр від Джейлана. Так, режисер за останні роки помітно змінився. Ранній Джейлан нагадував Тарковського і Антоніоні, а зараз з кожним новим фільмом він все більше нагадує Бергмана. Той теж любив копнути поглибше нутрощі людської душі.
Одну з основних ідей фільма можна висловити коротко словами одного з персонажів: люди не змінюються. Навіть у самому кінці стрічки глядачу може здатися, что вот-вот ДА, но... НЄТ! (c)Голохвастов.
